The First Date

So after the day that we met at the Hospital, and decided that we would like to see eachother socially, ( not that we saw eachother profesionally ) but I think you get what I mean. I invited her to a BBQ, that some friends and I where throwing the week before the fourth of July. She said that she would love to go, and I got all giddy like I was a little school boy. Cause hey lets face it, She is HOT......... So moving on, I spend the week of the BBQ getting ready for the party. Now a bit of background, I didn't date alot of people here in Idaho, when I first moved here. Mainly due to the fact that there is alot of women that are beautiful, but most ( not all ) but most, really want to be married, and I was not in any position to do anything of the sort. Nor did I want anything at the time, even resembling that big of a commitment. I did however date a woman for about two weeks, around christmas time the year before, and she was going to be at the party, I was throwing. ( Yeah imagine my butterflies ) Oh the drama. So the day of the party comes around, and I have been talking to Abbie pretty much every night since we first met, due to the fact that I now had her number, and really did like talking to her ( great conversationalist ) . I knew how to get to her house in Lewisville, and she knew when I would be picking her up for the night. Now it is really not hard to get to where she lives, but I was so nervous, I actually drove past her house on perpouse three times. ( Yeah I know what your thinking, I am a pansy, and that is what it is, so get off me ) So finally I call her, after driving past her place, I call her and tell her I am lost, due to the fact that I am now a bit late in picking her up, for the date. Durring the call I find out that the other guy, RON, will be comming to the same BBQ ( you remember RON, from her version of the meeting ). Seems as though RON, is also talking to my friend Tammy, and she has invited him to the same BBQ, and we are all going to be there with smiles on our faces. ( imagine if you will the amount of insecurity that rushed over me ) So I pick Abbie up, and we race back into town, to get to the party. Just as we pull up, Tammy and Ron pull up at the same time. WOW, I am just so happy to be in this position. NOT. I do however act like the gracious co-host, and welcome them, and continue on to the party, being the guy that my mother created ( as far as party host, and just a great partyer ). The party is in full swing, and I see her. My ex........ ( stomach instantly falls to my knees ) Yeah I am really happy now, here I am with this beautiful woman, sitting next to me, next to her, is a guy she has gone out with, and here comes my ex... BEAUTIFUL. Well the night went off without a hitch, and I know that I began to fall for Abbie that night. You see she pretty much ignored the evil stares of my ex, and you would have never known that she had gone out with RON. In her words, " I was there with you, and you where there with me, thats all." After the BBQ, Tammy and Ron, asked of we wanted to go see a movie, and being a guy, I knew Ron wanted to be around Abbie more, and I know Tammy was wanting some more company other than Ron. Knowing this, I opted that we go do our own thing. Abbie quickley agreed with me, and off to the dairy queen we went. After getting a couple blizzards we walked around the greenbelt, and talked alot more about who we where, making fun of the young couples along the side of the river, staring blissfully at the temple. ( Yeah it happens alot here ) I took her home, and knew there was something really special about this girl. The next week, she and her family where off to Calgary Canada for the Calgary Stampede. I text her, and called her everyday that she was gone, and as soon as she returned home, we where off on a second date. From that day on we have been together pretty much everyday.

Round 2

OK, so here we go, It has been about a month now since the last post, as I wrote before, there is to be another post. It just seems to get away from me all the time, and I finally have abbie here, to do the deed ( now get your minds out of the gutter, we are not married yet. ) I mean to write her account of how we met, and so on. So without further adeiu, HEEEERRRREEEE'SSSS ABBIE.

Well I suppose that you have already read Brock's story of how we met......now you will hear....the rest of the story. The end of June '06 a group of friends that I work with & my sisters, whom I also work with, had plans to go camping. All plans were good to go, but then one of the guys that I work with got a surprise visit from his parents who were living in Missouri at the time. They came to spend the week with Ted and his wife and kid......not a problem, but then things came up witheveryone else's plans as well. My little sister, Haley, was playing on an intramural softball team at BYU-I and they made it to the championship game, that just so happened was being played the weekend we were to go camping. Anyway, long story short, by the end of the week I was the only oneout of the whole group that would be able to go camping, besides Ted and his WHOLE family, so I opted to stay home and help my parents with the yard. Exciting I know! Saturday morning and all afternoon I spent outside with my family doing yard work. Somewhere around 5pm or so I decided to go inside and take a little break from the heat, so I went downstairs inthe basement where it was nice and cool and decided to get on the computer......I know you're thinking "What a loser....she has a profile on some LDS Mingle date site". Trust me, if you had the options that I did here in po-dunk Idaho, you would totally understand why I had resorted to that! LOL Just kidding....but seriously! Anyway, I was checking my e-mail and noticed that I had received a "smile" from someone on the site, so I decided to check it out. While I was on there a guy named Ron had started chatting with me, so I began to talk with him.....Brock had mentioned him in his version. We talked for a little while, he was funny and easy to talk to.......seemed perfectly harmless. He asked if I wanted to go grab a bite to eat since it was a Saturday and neither of us had any plans for that night, so I agreed to meet up with him in Idaho Falls for dinner and if things went good maybe a movie. Well I was just about to log off so I could go get ready, and then I get this 'smile' from "some guy" by the name of "b1withrock". I looked at his profile and he sounded like a fun guy and his picture wasn't too freakish, so I sent him a 'smile' back. He was still online and a window had popped up.....it was him wanting to chat! So now I'm sitting there thinking, "Crap, I gotta go get ready so I can meet Ron on time, but I don't want this guy to think that I'm blowing him off and don't want to talk." So I talked with Brock for a little while and we hit it off right away, giving each other crap and crackin jokes. Well I had to cut it short.....even though I didn't really want to.....so I could get ready. I told him I had to leave so I could get ready to go "meet up with some friends".......really I swear I am not a little tramp. Anyway, we decided that we'd talk later that night or the next day and get to know a little more about each other. I went out with Ron that night, got some dinner and decided to go to a movie. He was really cool and easy to talk to, down to earth.....I tell you this because with the future blog, he will play a part. I went home at the end of the date thinking that that was probably the first normal guy that I had actually met in person from online. The next day I went to church, ate dinner, and was just relaxing. I decided to get online again and see if maybe either of them were online. Brock was online and we beganchatting some more...talked for quite a bit.....for those of you that know Brock, this comes as no surprise ;) As we were chatting I told him I had to work the next day and found out that he too was going to be at the hospital I work at. Brock asked me if I would want to meet then or some other time if I would rather not meet at work because as he said "I know that I would love to go out with you sometime and get to know you better, but I will leave that up to you". We decided to meet around lunch time the next afternoon, talked some more, then both had to go to get some sleep so we wouldn't be dead at work. My older sister and I both worked and drove in together. I told her about Brock and how we were going to meet that afternoon. Yeah, I was nervous, but as the morning progressed and continued to be busy I didn't have a whole lot of time to think about it. I had one patient that had to have a MRI done but she was too big for the at the hospital and had to go to the open MRI scanner across the street. I had to stay and take care of my other patient, sothe paramedics and Critical care resource nurse showed up along with the Respiratory Therapist because she was on a ventilator.......this was not a fun little road trip. In the middle of it all, my sister shows up.....she was working at a different wing of the ICU.....I asked her what she was doing over where I was and she told me that she heard "this Brock guy call back to come see me" on the phone with the unit secretary. She took the shortcut to where I was to "warn me" LOL There I am now thinking "Great, just great. What timing....there's about 8 paramedics and nurses in helping me move my patient on to a stretcher to get her MRI done." Then I thought " Maybe he'll get lost on his way over to the "A" unit and buyme some time. Well I was in and out of my room making sure that her chart and everything they needed was with her before they left. I looked over and saw that the doors had opened up and I saw a guy in navy scrubs, a hair net, and little blue booties. Figured "that's gotta be him".....luckily they were just strapping my patient onto the stretcher and almost ready to head out the door. I went over to say hello.......now mind you, he said that he would introduce himself and leave it up to me if I wanted to go out or not because he already said that he wanted to, so there would be no pressure.........I walked up to him stuck my hand out to shake his hand and said "Well, you must be Brock ". He stuck his hand out to shake mine and before I could finish what I said he said "Hi, you must be Abbie, ya wanna go to a barbeque this Friday?" I just started laughing and told him " I guess I didn't scare you off.......a barbeque sounds good!" We talked for a few more minutes then I gave him my phone number and we both had to go back to work. After he left I thought, man he had some really blue eyes.....guess when you're wearing almost every shade of blue it can do that! The rest of the day,Iwas asked by all the nurses on the side that I worked on who that cute guy was that came to visit me, of course I had to tell them the story. This was a Monday and I had to wait until Friday to see him again. He would call almost every night, but I will leave the rest of the story for the next blog "Our first date".

There ya go....my version of when we met......My mom calls me the human tape recorder, so Iam sorry if you fell asleep during that novel. Stay in tune for.....the rest of the story.

Here Goes.......

How we met : ( Brock's View )

So we have been together now, for two years. ( WOW ) I never thought I would find someone like her. I digress... Two years ago, i was surffing the net, looking for a date, being a member of the LDS Dating sights, I thought it would be a simple task. Boy was I wrong! After many failed attempts at finding someone that I was compadible with, I was left witht the sad fact that I just did not fit in here in Idaho Falls. Moving from Vegas to here, was unexpected, and kinda on a whim, but it has turned out to be the best thing I have ever done. ( So sorry, another tangent ) Anyway, getting fed up with the online datting scene, here I got on for one last time. I was in process of removing my profile from each site I was a member of, and was about to hit the delete icon, when all of the sudden I got a match-up from the sight. Being a bit disgruntled with the whole system, I vocaly proclaimed " You gotta be freaking kidding me." Then I went and checked the match-up. Yeah I know what your thinking, and the answer is yes, I am a glutton for punishment. I am now looking at the match-up, and it is of this young blonde woman, living in Lewisville, Idaho, ( I have no clue where this is at ) and she is pretty cute, from the pictures she has on her profile. So me being the window shopper I am, I send her a flirt, and wouldnt you know it, she is online. How Seridipidous... Now to her side of the story. Abbie was suposed to be camping that weekend, but with a turn of events, she and her sisters decided not to go, and she was online, chatting with another guy, named Ron. ( Well get back to Ron later ) So long story longer, we both should not have been online, but there we where, reading eachothers profile, and flirting back and fourth. Yeah, flirting is not near as fund online, much more fun in person. ( Sorry another tangent ) Moving on, So there we where flirting with each other, and then began the chatting, ( Oh yeah there was some good chats ) Not really, but we did chat about eachother for a few days. Most of what we talked about was eachother, you know the finding out what eachother is like, the likes and dislikes, finding out that I have a huge tattoo, and that she is a country girl. ( Not to be confused with Redneck ) A few days later after chatting with eachother, I find out that she is a nurse at the local hospital, and it just so happens that I was going to be working there that following monday. We decided to meet, and see if we wanted to continue on to a 1st date. So that comming monday, I walked into work, and go into my uniform. Now if anyone ( Joe you will understand the best ) has ever been into a opperating room, this is how I was dressed. Navy blue scrubs, a bonnet that you could see thru, like they wear in candy shops, and little blue O.R. booties, covering my shoes. Yeah, I looked hot as hell. Durring the surgery I was working on that day, I decided to walk over and say hi, nervous as Ill get out. So I walk to the I.C.U. which happens to be on the same floor as the O.R. how lucky was that. So I walk to the phone, to enter the I.C.U. and pick up the ringer. Now here is where it gets kinda funny, in all the chats, that we had, over the last couple days, I never asked her, what her last name was, so when I said, " Is Abbie there?" I got, " Which one?"..... the only thing that whent through my mind, was ( and I quote ) " OH SHIT " litteraly. So stammeringly, I say " the one that lives in Lewisville " I was then told, I was in the worng place, and I needed to go down the hall to the A side of the I.C.U. so off I went. Getting there, I again pick up the ringer, and the doors open. Looking through the doors, before I picked up the ringer, I saw a woman in and out of a room, that I thought could be her, but I was not sure. The doors open, and wham, I was in, walking up the short hallway, I was even more nervous now than I was before. Out from the desk a young blonde walks, ( Yeah it was her that I saw thru the door ) and the only thing I could think was " I hope she says yes to a date." Well we all know she said yes, otherwise we would probably not be getting married. the next post will be about the first date.
